A Personal Relationship with a Cleaning Company?

In the blog this week I would like to discuss relationships and how we as people navigate the world with them. A bit off the beaten path for a cleaning company to write about, yet at the same time is one of the many reasons thus far for our success here at Park West Cleaning.

Having strong personal relationships is something that I have prided myself as constantly working towards as well as something that I have instilled in the culture here at Park West. The current perception of home cleaning and most service based businesses for that matter are that they are all more or less the same, a view I am guilty of holding as well sometimes. For example, you might know of a plumber you would use when planning a project but when something breaks in the middle of the night, first step google, second step, call whoever is at the top of the reviews. That is typically how far the research goes.

In residential cleaning there is a bit more nuance to the decision but not much it seems. Selecting a cleaning company to come into your home can be a daunting choice. The current market place doesn’t seem to offer many quality choices either. There are either large corporate franchises that offer minimal service but get the job done for premium pricing, small mom and pop shops that offer affordable pricing but lack communication, or cleaning ladies that for better or for worse are hard to communicate with regarding timing and level of service etc.

This brings us to Park West Cleaning. What we do, and have done for over 400 cleans thus far, is thread the needle that is premium service and competitive pricing. We pride ourselves on and have created systems here at Park West to ensure that our communication is elite, that our services are completed in full, on time, and at a competitive price. The drive to create Park West was spun out of the realization that finding a cleaning service you can count on, well, kinda sucks. It’s tough though, finding a reputable company that you feel comfortable letting in your home, cleaning your spaces and possessions while being cost effective? There are few that check all the boxes. It is key to have a personal relationship with a service business for this reason. It helps to work with people you know, and when that is not an option, relying on reviews is pretty much all you can do.

At Park West over the course of the past 8 months, I have cultivated many personal relationships with people I never thought I would know or speak to in a previous life. I have spoken with more realtors without having any intention of buying a home than I ever thought I would. I have worked with about 5 accountants before I landed on one that understood what I was looking for and needed. I have interviewed more people than I care to admit to reach just one employee! The whole point of the above is, it takes time to find your people, but once you do, hold them close as they will help you realize your true potential and bring your dreams to life whether that is running a service business or finding the right home cleaners for you and your family.

Human relationships can be hard to manage because they are not one sided. The person on the other end of the phone, zoom screen, or even right in front of you, is trying to accomplish their own dreams. It is hard to be on the same page all the time and that is ok. But like all living things in life, these relationships need work to realize their true potential. Along this journey of what’s becoming the better part of a year, I have met many people from many different walks of life. Some of whom, I haven’t done my best to keep cultivating the relationship for one reason or another. My promise to you, as the reader, is to get back to those people. Many of whom were extremely responsible for our success so far.

It is important to water your flowers because if you don’t they will die. Same goes with the relationships you have with people in your life, water them and they will really come to life and show you their beauty and what they can offer to you and your business.
